We live in a time where there is a lot of talk about religion and alot of fights between different nations around the world. I wish not to go in detail about the wars, but about the difference we make between people, by looking at their religion or race.
We say we live in a so called civilised World, I agree that in terms of technology we are advanced, yet in terms of thinking we are not much different than we have been a few hundred years ago, I agree that we have improved but there is still space for more.
Today in the news and in polls and many other public media broadcasts, people are still categorized by ethnicity and race, we still think in terms of dividing people into groups. This way of thinking is the wrong way, because it proves that we do not accept everyone as the same as ourselves. In my country Luxembourg the situation of the people is great, but whenever a problem arises that is due to the lack of problem solving ability of our politicians, they find something to blame the immigrants. Of course most people also accept the conclusion these guys take and increase their negative feelings towards foreigners.
This kind if thinking is what lead to the terrible things happening in WW2 and I am sure many of you will agree with me on this, that the way we still handle people in our world is not the correct way. In my school I am glad to see that this Human-Categorical Thinking is decreasing and our new generation accepts others, no matter of what ethnicity or race and they see them as the same as ourselves and see their cultural differences as something good that brings some change into our monotone lives.
E.a.K
